SOMALIA: Foreign warship attacks Hobyo district, 5 killed

Hobyo (RBC) At least five persons were killed and eight others wounded after foreign warship attacked boats in Hobyo district on Wednesday night, Local residents in Hobyo, coastal town in central Somalia told RBC Radio.
“The attack was targeted a fishing boat in the coast on evening of Wednesday at about 7:00 p.m. local time”, Col. Ali Mahamud who is the police chief of the district said.
There is one Iranian citizen wounded on the fire and he is now quite well, local health officer confirmed.
The dead were all Somali men onboard the boat when the fire attack came into their boat approaching to the coast.
The attack is reportedly directed against small pirate boat in the area which answered with gunfire.
Unidentified foreign helicopter also took part the attack in Hobyo coast.
“It is the foreigners who are looting our sea and want to attack us to show heir power”, Hassan Yare an elder in Hobyo district said.
The nightly gun attack caused terror on the local civilian in Hobyo whose main business is the fishing on the sea.
“How can you go to sea and fish while the foreigners doing like this”, he complained.
