Mogadishu (RBC) Witnesses in Somalia port town of Kismayo said al Shabab militants beheaded former politician and also well-known local elder in lower Jubba region.
Hared Ali Durdur who was his 50s was found his body cut off the head and thrown at Kismayo main hospital on Thursday morning.
The beheaded Mr. Durdur was detained from his home in Kismayo a week ago by al Shabab militia, local sources told RBC Radio.
“He was captured by al Shabab before a week they were interrogating since then but on morning of Thursday his body was found in the hospital”, said Mahamud Sayed, Somali MP who is a relative with the beheaded man.
He added that the extremists are still holding other six traditional elders they seized already.
Health officer who spoke to RBC Radio with anonymity condition said the body seemed to be executed before a day.
Hared Ali Durdur was famous local elder and peace lover in southern regions of Somalia. He served as military officer in Somalia army before the collapse of Somalia government in 1991.
He then joined Jubba Valley alliance which administrated Jubba region and was appointed as manager of Kismayo port.
Even while al Shabab took the control of Kismayo in 2009, Mr. Hared Ali Durdur remained in his hometown of Kismayo staying with his children.
