Embakasi East MP's bodyguards arrested over extortion

– Two officers, who are Embakasi East MP’s bodyguards were arrested after being accused of extortion
– They are also being investigated for being in possession of a stolen car
Two officers attached to Embakasi East MP John Omondi as bodyguards are under investigation after they were arrested in Kayole on Saturday June 18, 2016 over apparent extortion.
Officer Tobias Oluth based at Embakasi police station and Bob Bigogo of Logistics headquarters in Ruaraka allegedly apprehended three members of the public and bundled them in a car.
According to The Star, the vehicle’s registration number was identified as KBL 557D, a Toyota Wish model.
It was driven to Nyama Villa in Kayole, with all five occupants inside.
The MP’s bodyguards were nabbed after police on patrol stopped the car. Two victims, Fredrick Ogutu and Gabriel Oduor said the officers demanded cash from them, as well as from the third person identified as Michael Ndigo.
Police are investigating Oluth and Bigogo for the crime and for being in possession of a stolen car.
