SOMALIA: Bosasso Police commissioner vows to deal with insecurity


Following killings targeted to several traditional elders in Bosasso, the police forces have been conducting heavy operations aimed to tighten the security (RBC Radio)
Bosasso (RBC) The police commissioner of Bari region in Somalia’s semi-autonomous state of Puntland Col. Said Jama Hurun has vowed on Monday the police forces will eliminate the insecurity acts recently spread in Bosasso, the commercial centre of Puntland.
Following killings targeted to several traditional elders in Bosasso, the police forces have been conducting heavy operations aimed to tighten the security of the town.
“The security forces are working hard to assure the security in Bosasso amid heavy operation against planed assassinations and the armed robbery”, Col. Hurun told reporters in Bosasso.
He added that resident were not providing enough help to the police as to get rid off criminals noting that any police efforts will not make sense unless the support from the citizens.
According to Col Hurun the security officials are in currently investigating the murder case against Said Omar Kashawito, a famous elder assassinated in Bosasso on Saturday night.
Puntland main towns of Bosasso and Galkaio had experienced cases of assassinating and landmine explosions in the past weeks.
