Oldbury kidnap case: Man, 49, charged

A 49-year-old man has been charged in connection with the alleged kidnap of a 10-year-old boy in the West Midlands.
Police said the boy, who is from the Oldbury area, was reported missing on Sunday morning after he failed to return home from local shops.
He was later found at a nearby flat.
Michael Jackson is charged with kidnap, false imprisonment, threats to kill and sexual assault. Another man, aged 48, has been released on bail and a third man, aged 30, was freed without charge.
Police said Mr Jackson, from Oldbury, has also been charged with child abduction relating to a separate incident on 14 September in which an 11-year-old child, also from Oldbury, was allegedly abducted.
The child was unharmed and contacted police after Sunday's incident, police said.
The man will appear at Warley Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Emma Garnett, senior crown prosecutor, said: "Having carefully examined all the available information which was submitted to me by the police, I have decided that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest to charge Michael Jackson with one count of kidnap, false imprisonment, threats to kill and sexual assault."
Asst Ch Con Gareth Cann, from West Midlands Police, said: "We appreciate the impact this investigation has had on the local community and we thank them for their support.
"We will continue to update partners and the local community as this inquiry progresses."
