'Bahrain invasion will backfire on KSA'

Speaking on the sidelines of the military parade marking Iran's Army Day Brigadier General Yahya Rahim-Safavi described Saudi military presence in Bahrain a wrong move that can backfire on the monarchy.

“Saudi military participation in cracking down on the people of Bahrain is in violation of international law and is a form of military intervention in the internal affairs of Bahrain,” he added.

The top military adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, described Iran's military capabilities after 32 years since the victory of the Islamic Revolution as being very good, IRNA reported on Monday.

Saudi Arabia dispatched thousands of troops to neighboring Bahrain in mid-March to help quell protest rallies against the Al Khalifa dynasty.

Saudi and other Arab rulers fear that any concession by Bahraini rulers could embolden more protests against their own despotic rulers.

Bahraini demonstrators maintain that they will hold their ground until their demands for freedom, constitutional monarchy as well as a proportional voice in the government are met.

Scores of protesters have been killed and many others have gone missing since the beginning of the Bahraini revolution.

Bahrain is home to The Fifth Fleet of the United States Navy.
