SOMALIA: Government names national drought committee

Somalia Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali has appointed national committee to address the severe drought affecting the country.
MOGADISHU (RBC) Somalia Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali has appointed national committee to address the severe drought affecting the country, a press statement said.
“This press statement is today about naming ministerial committee for the droughts those will be tasked in evaluating and coordinating the humanitarian aid needed by the drought affected people in Somalia” the prime minister said in his statement on Sunday.
The committee, which comprises seven high personality ministers in the cabinet, are:
1- Defense minister.
2- Health minister,
3- Women’s affairs minister,
4- Interior minister
5- Finance minister
6- Public work minister
7- Information minister,
Meanwhile the prime minister called aid agencies, the local NGOs and Somali business community to urgently help the drought people citizens in the southern and central Somalia.
He also called for Al-Shabab rebels to allow the humanitarian aid to be distributed to the needy people in the locations they dominate.
