SOMALIA: Unidentified containers washed up on Somali shore

Hobyo (RBC) Residents in Hobyo district of Somalia central region say they have seen three big containers washed up in the seashore of the district.
Local elders have gone to the seaside to look the unidentified containers that was seen on the seashore of Hobyo district.
Number of died fish strewn on the shore were also seen.
The residents said they believe foreign ships crossing the sea dumped the materials in the sea which later stirred up to the seashore.
Sultan Ahmed Wali, Traditional elder in Hobyo said it is not the first time they witness unidentified barrels on the shore.
Hobyo district is under Galmudug administration and there are any details emerged from local authorities there.
RBC Radio correspondent Awil Mahamud in Galkaio, the provisional capital of Mudug says the residents greatly expressed concern about the materials seen in their district.
Health officials explore that unknown illness and environmental disaster in Somalia since the collapse of Somalia central government in 1991.
Foreign naval forces from EU and NATO are currently operating Somalia’s coast, the longest in Africa saying to tackle against rampant piracy in the read sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Somalia’s coastal waters are now considered to be among the most dangerous in the world, with more than 25 ships seized by pirates there last year despite world navy patrols, according to the International Maritime Bureau.
Some Somali pirates have reportedly claimed to be acting as “coastguards” protecting their waters from illegal fishing and dumping of toxic waste
